I must say, the Oscar red carpet fashion really pleased me. Usually, award shows are so boring as far as the fashion goes which is really why I was excited about this year's Academy Awards. Three looks that I am obsessed with is Mila Kunis' Elie Saab, Anne Hathaway's Valentino and Natalie Portman's Rodarte dress. I'll explain why below, but I picked these three women because I believe that their head-to-toe look was spot on for the night. Of course there were many women that looked beautiful last night as well (i.e. Halle Berry, Penelope Cruz, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, and Michelle Williams) but these 3 were just my favorites!
Let me just say that Mila Kunis might be one of the most perfect women in Hollywood, if not the world. She literally glowed in this dress. The pale purple, or lavender color of it was so attractive and decedent on her skin tone and the draping and natural flow of the dress really complimented her figure. I was also obsessing over the lace detail throughout the dress, but the lace around the bust is to die for. It brings the right amount of sexy without looking like lingerie or vulgar. Mila's hair and makeup tied in perfectly with the gown as well. The natural look of the makeup and swooped back wavy locks made this look minimal but gorgeous.
Next on the list was the dress Anne Hathaway wore to the Vanity Fair after party. I wasn't crazy about her red carpet dress (Sorry Rachel Zoe!) but the dress she wore to the VF party was perfection. This classic "Valentino Red" Valentino gown was so chic and fabulous. I think some of her looks during the show looked like she was trying so hard to be chic and fashion forward, this dress complimented her figure and personality. The beading across the bust and torso area and then flowing into the dress at the bottom was great! Leave it up to Valentino to create something effortless and drop dead gorgeous. Along with Mila, I think Anne's accesories and hair style also added to the dress. When I first looked at this photo of her I said "Is that Julia Roberts?!" Her hair was wavy, sexy and light and the black bag and minimal jewelry made this look Anne's best of the night in my opinion.
Last but certainly not least was the big winner of the night, Natalie Portman. Cannot even begin to explain how I died when I saw this Rodarte gown. Since she is pregnant it wasn't some amazing, crazy knitted situation, it was a draped, plum masterpiece. I think the way Natalie carries herself has something to do with it, but I really just loved the utter simplicity and chic-ness in this dress. The train wasn't too long (which is good because many trains have been ruined and ripped at award shows!) I also like how the dress was cut a little higher in the front so you could see her feet because it added even more of the effortless feel. The beading around the bust was just enough detail to show up for the cameras, but didn't overwhelm Natalie at all. Even pregnant, Natalie Portman really was one the most chic women that attended this years Academy Awards.
